SiPass integrated Security Management System to support Salto Offline Readers

SiPass integrated Security Management System to support Salto Offline Readers

The Siemens Building Technologies Division announces that SiPass integrated security management system now supports the offline readers from Salto. Customers benefit of a single comprehensive solution that uses just one card for both online and offline doors.

The combined solution of SiPass integrated and Salto offers customers the best of both worlds – the opportunity to ensure maximum security at all high-risk doors using SiPass integrated, Siemens’ world-leading online access control system, while at the same time controlling access to lower-security interior doors using Salto’s broad range of offline components. Access via both online and offline doors is controlled using the same card. All the cardholder data for both systems is stored in the SiPass integrated database and all events at all doors – online and offline – appear in the SiPass integrated event log. The information stored in the card provides a precise audit trail for each lock within SiPass integrated.

The partnership between Salto and the Siemens Building Technologies Division to develop this innovative integrated solution marks the beginning of a new era in security management. Users of the integrated system will appreciate the fact that they can use the same card at all doors. Security managers will be relieved to get rid of the key management problem that results from having mechanical locks with keys on low-security interior doors.

Marc Handels, Vice President Global Marketing for Salto, says: “This new alliance helps both companies cater to the growing demand for integrated security solutions. Combining Salto’s offline access control technology with Siemens’ SiPass integrated online access control system enables us to provide end users with a tailored solution specifically designed for their security needs.”

“We are very pleased to be partnered with Salto, the market leader in offline access control,” comments Peter Grace, product manager for SiPass integrated. “With Salto’s help we have created a convenient, secure and cost-efficient solution for our customers’ lower-security interior doors. We expect this integration will be particularly attractive to institutions such as hospitals, universities, large corporations, and other organizations with large numbers of doors. They no longer have to choose between the advantages offered by an advanced online access control system like SiPass integrated and the cost-efficiency and convenience offered by Salto. They can truly have it all.”

Salto is the world leader in offline access control solutions, enabling users to integrate their physical security needs through networked standalone locks. A Salto offline system can manage up to 65,000 doors and 65,000 users in a single system, securely controlling who has access to what, where and when at all times.

SiPass integrated is a powerful and almost infinitely flexible access control system that is designed to meet access control needs that range in complexity from medium to very high. It offers a wide range of advanced features including advanced card management, multimedia alarm handling, elevator management, a video surveillance user interface and complete event logging in a single system. At many sites SiPass integrated is used as a security management station (SMS) that integrates access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance into a single system. Designed to fit into a state-of-the-art IT environment, the modular structure and scalability of SiPass integrated make it easy to adjust to keep pace with the changing needs of any organization. It supports a virtually unlimited number of cardholders and controllers to suit any facility size.
