TI 2.5-A isolated gate driver doubles device lifetime, extends temperature range
Texas Instruments Incorporated introduced an isolated gate driver for insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) and MOSFETs that is 40 percent faster than equivalent optical gate drivers. The input TTL logic and output power stage in the ISO5500 are separated by a capacitive, silicon dioxide (SiO2) isolation barrier that doubles the lifetime of the device compared to optocouplers and magnetic isolators.

Texas Instruments introduced a 3-MHz, 100-mA synchronous step-down DC/DC converter, which integrates a bypass switch and a unique DCS-Control technology. The new device extends battery run-time by 20 percent in low-power wireless and MSP430™ MCU-based applications, when compared to competing solutions.
