XP Power’s GSP500 and GSP750 series of highly efficient AC/DC power supplies provide solutions for 500 W and 750 W applications seeking an ultra-compact footprint and a low 1U height profile. These single output, forced air cooled units can operate across a wide temperature range of -40°C to +70°C with full power available up to +50°C.
Both series have a high efficiency of 90% and an almost entirely flat efficiency curve over the full load range. Both series operate from an extended universal input range of 80 VAC to 264 VAC, with full power available from 90 VAC to 264 VAC, enabling the supplies to be truly suitable for worldwide use, unlike many units in the market that derate from 115 VAC.
Power output is up to 500 W or 650 W peak for the GSP500, and 750 W or 900 W peak for the GSP750. Both ranges are available in three single output models providing the nominal outputs of +12 VDC, +24 VDC, or +48 VDC. An additional +5 VDC standby output is also provided with 2 A for the GSP500 and 3 A for the GSP750 to provide an always-on output to supply logic circuits. Both series conform to the IEC/EN/ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 medical 3rd edition safety standard and also comply with the internationally recognized IEC/UL/EN60950-1 safety standard for IT equipment. They meet Class B conducted EMI standards. Protection features and control signals include power fail, inhibit, output good LED, and remote sense.
The GSP500 measures only 170.4 mm x 101.6 mm x 41.9 mm (6.71" x 4.00" x 1.65") and is packaged in an enclosed U channel chassis, the GSP750 has the same mechanical format which measures only 254.0 mm x 101.6 mm x 41.9 mm (10.0" x 4.0" x 1.65"). Both include two 3-speed fans where the fan speed is determined by a combination of internal ambient temperature, input voltage and output load, and ensure acoustic noise is always kept to a minimum. In addition, the units are designed so the fans will shut down under all input conditions where the load is minimal. This approach helps prolong fan life and suits medical applications where the end-equipment is located close to patients.
Both series employ resonant topologies throughout the design to minimize losses and reduce noise, as well as synchronous rectification to further reduce losses and enhance efficiency. All models include a 3-year warranty.
