Inkplate 10, Now at Crowd Supply, Uses Recycled E-Paper Displays with Wi-Fi Support and Low Power Performance
Crowd Supply announces the launch of Inkplate 10, a Wi-Fi-enabled, ESP32-based board with a recycled 9.7-inch e-paper display. Inkplate 10 uses recycled e-paper screens from Kindles and other e-readers, delivering benefits such as high contrast, impressive energy efficiency, and daylight readability.
Inkplate 10 can be used in a variety of creative applications including high-latency information panels, e-paper typewriters, collaborative task trackers, and even art projects.
Inkplate 10, developed by e-radionica and launched with support from Crowd Supply, is built using the Espressif ESP32 WROVER microcontroller, including 8 MBytes of RAM, 4 MBytes of flash, and integrated Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 4.0. The e-paper board features extremely low power consumption and is capable of sleeping for months on a single battery charge.
The device’s display supports partial updates, grayscale, and quick refresh cycles, including a 1.61-second refresh time in black and white mode, and a 1.81-second refresh time in grayscale mode. Inkplate 10 includes a microSD card reader for storing images and a USB Type-C port for power and programming.
