The MEMSIC MMC5616WA 3-Axis Magnetic Sensor has an integrated digital bus, I2C fast mode, and I3C interfaces. The MEMSIC MMC5616WA directly connects to a microprocessor, eliminating the need for A/D converters or timing resources. The sensor measures magnetic fields up to ±30 Gauss with high precision (0.0625mG per LSB at 20 bits) and low noise (2mG total RMS). This ensures ±1º heading accuracy in electronic compass applications.
The MMC5616WA features 16 sets of FIFO data cache, a unique feature for magnetometers. Large FIFO can help reduce the microcontroller wake-up frequency in many application scenarios. System power consumption can be reduced 15 to 30 times compared to devices that don’t have FIFO.
Applications for the MMC5616WA sensor include smartphones, wearables, drones and augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR). The device is provided in an ultra-small 0.82 mm x 0.82 mm x 0.4 mm wafer-level package, ideal for space-constrained applications.
