Anritsu Corporation has renewed and launched its "Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs)" website to strengthen support for NTN device development. This website introduces NTN use cases, device development challenges, and test solutions, giving customers the necessary information to help solve their problems.
Anritsu is continuing to provide the latest test solutions contributing to NTNs development.
NTN Current Status and Anritsu Initiatives
By future commercial broadband services from private companies using launching Low Earth orbit satellite constellations, NTN will help connect more people now suffering from poor rural telecommunications. As examples, one smartphone vendor is now attracting attention by offering emergency SOS messaging mainly in North America and Japan. Another major telecommunications carrier is offering text messaging services in the USA, with plans to roll out global services. With plans for on-device voice and video communication services, the NTN market is growing alongside the satellite-related market.
However, NTN faces challenges, including device RF characteristics, certification testing, battery efficiency testing, and field interference assessment, as well as satellite-specific delays and frequency shift. 3GPP is now standardizing satellite communications technology and Anritsu is providing NTN NB-IoT test solutions.
This "Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs)" website will continue providing information on NTN to help increase expected use-cases.
